@bhdunn If you actually read my entire comment you would understand i said Greg Gillis is doing mash-up and not mixing. I simply tried to explain the most basic examples of mixing vs mash-up. Please read more carefully next time. Thanks :-)

@cuencastone I think them being edited would detract from them. What's wrong with uncensored ones?
sirmichaeloftherocks (Jul 15, 2010 at 01:53 AM)
@bhdunn yes sir! Who said that? haha, they obviously dont know anything about music.
cuencastone (Jul 2, 2010 at 05:12 PM)
@Ipvids Thanks! I actually downloaded them that night- I paid for them, but it was optional :) My only *wish* is that they were edited! ;-) I listen to them when I go running- but if they were edited, I would play the songs everywhere! <3 it!
lpvids (Jul 2, 2010 at 03:03 AM)
@cuencastone Night Ripper and Feed the Animals are the two like this. His first two albums are a lot different, and not as good imo. But you can download them all free.

@vinyltm

djselcius (Jan 10, 2010 at 11:45 PM)
What I'm saying is that alot of artists waive fees like that, because of his notoriety, and its not like he is just copying their whole song simple a few seconds.
MistaQuake4 (Jan 10, 2010 at 10:36 PM)
@djselcius
do you know how much it would cost him to clear these samples? even ONE sample could span 15 people or so cuz rappers tend to sample from big funk bands or sample other samples :S. one song may contain about 150 different people to pay haha. not including the big label suits who get the MOST money but do the least amount of work.
djselcius (Jan 10, 2010 at 07:08 PM)
Not so. If GT uses a sample from your song its a good thing, hes pretty big.

who cares what it's called, it's fantastic.
vinyltm (Nov 25, 2009 at 04:54 AM)
It's pretty simple, if you take two songs and crossfade them together at the same matching BPM (beat per minute) it is called mixing. There are many variations of mixing. Taking multiple samples of different songs and putting them together is considered mash-up. It mainly has to do with how the tracks are played out. Taking the beat from one song and the vocals from another is mash-up. It's really a big confusing circle. :-P I hope that helped you understand a bit more. google it if not
marginallymental (Nov 25, 2009 at 04:44 AM)
Okay, I'm confused. Backround=mixing, actual song=mashup? I think I see the distinction.
blviking56 (Oct 20, 2009 at 08:36 AM)
yep look it up hes so good
MistaQuake4 (Oct 1, 2009 at 08:01 PM)
I don't even think he can SELL his music officially seeing as he's probably sampled like damn near 1000 songs. He probably has some kinda "donation" scheme working hahaha. I'd give him a few bucks for the great mash ups I've heard for sure though. I'm not as pleased w/ the rest of his stuff as I was with Feed The Animals though.
SiFland (Sep 29, 2009 at 08:19 PM)
saw him live saturday night. one of his best college shows apparently. i was on stage the whole time. loved it. love him.
